Feast your eyes on Québec City’s fairytale splendor!

Observatoire de la Capitale is getting into the spirit of the season and donning its holiday finery. In this joyful atmosphere, we invite young and old to experience the fairyland panorama of Québec City, with or without snow, while enjoying the exhibitions Québec City Through the Eyes of Kedl. Four Centuries of Passion (Continued) and Gravitas and Beauty: Parliament Hill Revealed.

The east wall of Observatory will feature Gravitas and Beauty: Parliament Hill Revealed until spring 2010. This exhibition unveils the beauty of Parliament Hill from unusual angles and unexpected details in 24 surprising photographs by Christian Chevalier, Québec National Assembly photographer. This exhibition is presented thanks to the support of Commission de la capitale nationale du Québec and Québec’s National Assembly.

The days are numbered for Québec City Through the Eyes of Kedl. Four Centuries of Passion (Continued), a tribute to the photography of Eugen Kedl. Shown on the west and north walls, it includes some 75 photographs depicting milestones in Québec City’s history. André Kedl, Eugen Kedl’s son and fellow photographer, has supplemented this exhibition with photographs representing the legacy of the city’s 400th anniversary in fulfillment of his father’s last wishes. Presented by the Commission, Société du 400e anniversaire de Québec, and the National Bank of Canada.

Up top, it’s a great opportunity to take Québec City home with you by picking up one of the Commission’s publications, or get a panoramic visa, which, for $9.95, is good for 12 months free admission to the best viewpoint over Champlain’s city—Observatoire de la Capitale.

Observatoire de la Capitale is managed by the Commission and located on the 31st floor of the Marie-Guyart Building at 1037 rue De la Chevrotière. It is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for students and seniors, and free for children aged 12 and under.
